Thailand services: BOI, structure, tax, VAT refunds and visas

In short

Five service lines, run by one team: BOI investment promotion, company and shareholding structure, monthly tax compliance, export VAT refunds, and visas and work permits for staff sent from China. The order matters as much as the list — the BOI decision comes first, because the tier is what the investment projections and the shareholding structure rest on, and the structure has to be settled before the company is registered. Our advisers act on your behalf: you do not log in to any government portal.

01The order these happen in

Four of the five lines have a fixed order, and the fifth runs alongside them. Getting the order wrong is what causes rework.

Because one team runs all five, the conclusion from one line feeds the next. You should not be told a step is fine and then find that the step after it does not support what was already decided.

Regional guides

The same service line meets different conditions depending on where the project lands.

Checked against the official texts by the CTAC Thailand advisory team. We track the gazettes of the BOI, the Revenue Department, the Department of Business Development and Thai Customs every week; when an official position changes, the affected pages are updated and dated.
This page is general information based on the rules in force at the date shown. Thai BOI categories, incentive conditions and foreign-investment rules change often. Before acting on any specific project, check the latest official announcement and have a formal opinion issued on your own facts.

Put the project in front of our advisers. We work out the order things have to happen in first, then talk about scope.
